ILETSB Executive Institute - Sworn Female Law Enforcement - Research Study
The ILETSB Executive Institute is supportive of academic research for the betterment of the criminal justice system. In supporting this research, we are sending this letter to recruit participants for a doctoral dissertation study by PhD Candidate Patrina McCoy: The Lived Experiences That Contributes to the Underrepresentation of Women in Law Enforcement
My name is Patrina McCoy-Hart, and I am a doctoral student who is currently conducting research through the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board (ILETSB) Executive Institute. I am conducting a research study entitled, The lived experiences that contributes to the underrepresentation of women in law enforcement, and would like to invite SWORN FEMALE LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS to participate.
Participation in this study is completely voluntary. As a participant, you will be asked to provide some general demographic information about yourself such as age, gender and number of years on the job via an online survey which should take approximately 5minutes to complete. If you qualify for the study, you will be asked to participate in an online focus group that will take place at these times:
Scheduled focus group times: Chief/Deputy Chief (Sunday Nov 12, 2017 @ 3 pm)
Commander/Lieutenant (Sunday Nov 5, 2017 @ 3pm)
Sergeant (Saturday Nov 4, 2017 @ noon)
Officer (Saturday Nov 4, 2017 @ 9 am)
Your time commitment will roughly be 90 minutes. Anymeeting.com an online webinar will be utilized to conduct the focus group. You will only need a laptop or desktop (with a camera) and Google Chrome or Firefox as a browser. Any identifiers, such as your name and place of employment, will be kept confidential within the study and utilized to confirm participation. You will receive transcripts of your responses prior to the research being published.
All participants will be entered in a drawing to win a $50 gift card for your time and commitment. If you are interested in participating in this study, please take a moment to complete the pre-screening survey below; again your responses will be kept confidential. The survey should not take more than 2 minutes to complete.
