Course Description:  This course examines multiple reasons for hostile angry communication from the inside-out.  It recognizes prototype patterns of behaviors and communication tools for building connectedness, with the goal increasing Officer personal safety and decreasing personal liability.  It examines how to use the eight nonverbal systems not escalate anger, all towards the safest incident for all parties present.

The course discusses how a suspect’s communication verbiage, style and nonverbals can easily trigger/increase negative and hostile reactions from the Officer’s verbal and nonverbal communication reaction, setting off a chain reaction that can trigger the Use of Force.  The class will discuss how to avoid this chain reaction.
