This course is taught in a workshop format.  Field Trainers will discuss the significance of setting professional boundaries for the Field Training relationship with the probe.   They will discuss the most probable challenges Probationary Officers face, due to differences in age, time on, experience, assignments, & time-on with different agencies.  Field Trainers will recognize the significance of tying their ongoing feedback & documentation to Department SOPs, Federal & State Statutes, city ordinances, jurisdictional geography & community policy goals.  This training will identify assertive verbal & nonverbal communication skills the FTO should require of the probe.  It will give examples for neutral unbiased documentation skills.  FTOs will practice debriefing a probe, conflicted situations with a difficult, insubordinate probe, and proofing/editing incident reports to skill-build to department standards.
