This mandate dictates an annual four-hour training for Illinois Correctional Officers and administrators.  This workshop has been developed to meet the legal mandate for suicide prevention and mental health management of incarcerated citizens.

Focus will be placed on:

  3. Situational stressors of suicidal detainees
  4. Evaluation of detainee coping skills
  5. Monitoring, evaluation and stablization in suicide
  6. Situational stressors that influence mental illness
  7. Common litigation focus during lawsuits
  8. Profile of high and low risk facilities and jurisdictions
  9. Major mental illnesses and signs & symptoms
  10. Correlation between suicide & mental illness in jails
  11. Profile and probability factors of suicidal inmate
  12. Special populations: women, gay, elderly, high profile
