MEETS IL MANDATES: Emergency Medical Response (4.0 hours/2.0 scenario-based hours)

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This course begins with a brief lesson on common practices when dealing with the Emergency Room and EMS systems.  Opioid overdose signs and symptoms will be reviewed with a demonstration in Narcan deployment.  We will then go on to discuss best practices for preventable trauma related deaths. 

The instructor will demonstrate the use of tourniquets, pressure bandages, wound packing, and chest seals.  In a scenario setting, students will demonstrate the use of tourniquets, pressure bandages, wound packing and chest seals.

Students will also be trained to identify and demonstrate: Recovery positions; burning process, and; bleeding issues.
