COURSE DESCRIPTION: Beginning January of 2021, any Illinois law enforcement officer serving as a School Resource Officer (SRO), pursuant to an agreement between a school district and a law enforcement agency, must be certified as having completed the �necessary� course of instruction. This class satisfies all these requirements and will provide officers with an overview of the School Resource Officer position, the duties to be performed, and the differences in approach and analysis required in the school setting compared to general patrol. **Prerequisite for this training is three (3) years of certified, full-time law enforcement or five (5) years of certified, part-time law enforcement.The final day of class will be devoted to necessary Active Threat Response training designed to train SRO�s and patrol officers in the basic fundamentals and tactical skill sets of Solo Officer Active Threat response protocols.COURSE PREREQUISITES:� Sworn police officer.� Not a beginner�s course � Participants must have a working knowledge of basic conventional rapid deployment and tactics.� Participants should be physically capable of operating in challenging crisis situations.� Participants will be required to jog, kneel and perform police tactical skills. If unable to perform any of these basic tasks, PLEASE DO NOT REGISTER THEM TO ATTEND.The course requires every attendee to be equipped with a converted patrol rifle and pistol that shoot marking cartridges. Converted pistols and AR15 drop in bolts are available for those that do not have their own. Officers must bring their own converted weapons, but they must be Simunition, Force-on-Force or UTM ammunition capable. Air-Soft training pistols and rifles are acceptable. Officers should also bring protective mask and neck protection if available. Officers without converted weapons and marking rounds may attend and will be provided with the appropriate equipment to participate in the scenarios.
