Meets IL Mandates: De-escalation Techniques (14 hrs./11 hrs. scenario-based training), Officer safety techniques, including cover, concealment, and time (14 hrs./10 hrs. scenario-based training), Active Threat Response (16 hrs./16 hrs. scenario-based training)
This course covers the elements of deliberate and dynamic room clearing, close quarters combat, and structure clearance as it relates to Law Enforcement Officers. Overall team deployment and individual operator skills are both addressed. The tactics and techniques covered build a foundation that both the individual Officer and Law Enforcement teams can easily put into practice.
COURSE GOALS:
- Understand and demonstrate fundamentals of deliberate CQB clearance.
- Understand and demonstrate fundamentals of dynamic CQB clearance.
- Understand and demonstrate hybrid, deliberate/dynamic clearance.
- To provide a detailed explanation of conventional police tactics for managing barricade/hostage situations.
- Identify and discuss use-of-force and safety priority issues related to CQB, Deployment/Immediate Action incidents, including defense of life, law, police & procedure, and established safety priorities.
- To assist participants in demonstrating practical knowledge and ability in team formation/movement (Contact and Rescue teams), room clearing, verbalization skills, firearms handling/deployment skills and actions upon contact.
- To allow students opportunities to participate in realistic scenario-based training and demonstrate their ability to perform rapid deployment response techniques and tactics.
