This 2-day course is intended for patrol officers and their supervisors. It will be an introduction to responding to critical incidents that are then managed by SWAT Teams and Hostage (Crisis) Negotiators. The focus of the course will be on the skills and techniques used by negotiators when responding to suicidal subjects, criminal and non-criminal barricades, and hostage situations. Other situations that often deploy negotiators, such as kidnappings, active shooters/terroristic acts, and protect movements will also be considered. Finally, the tactical and incident command components of a critical incident will be considered.
