This course will prepare students with no prior experience with vehicle reclamation to perform all of the necessary duties required by law and rules promulgated by the Illinois Secretary of State.
COURSE GOALS:
- Students will know the definitions associated with vehicle reclamation.
- Students will know the different types of Illinois title documents.
- Students will know current laws allowing for police to authorize removal of vehicles.
- Students will know vehicle reclamation statutes contained in Chapter 4 of the Illinois Vehicle Code.
- Students will know how and when a vehicle may be processed after towing/impoundment.
- Students will know the processes involved in disposing of unclaimed vehicles.
- Students will know how to complete all paperwork required by the Secretary of State’s office regarding vehicle reclamation.
- Students will know dissemination of records issues regarding LEADS and NLETS records and how to avoid violating non-dissemination rules.
